How can I see David live?

Answer:

You can catch him at festivals, and often around town on different jobs. He and his wife also go out to eat often. Various tours of Laurel usually know where he is too! So we do hope to see you around town!

Are Ben and Erin as nice to work for as they seem?

Answer:

The answer is, “Absolutely yes!” They are real, genuine, and heartfelt people who truly care about Laurel and making the world a better place.

Where are the houses located that I’ve seen on Home Town?

Answer:

I have to sign a nondisclosure agreement and for the safety of the jobs, homeowners, and the community, I am not allowed to disclose their locations.

How many houses do you do at a time?

Answer:

Sometimes 5 or more at a time. Filming is not linear and it involves a lot of moving parts on everyone’s behalf.

How long does it take to remodel one of the houses?

Answer:

Typically it takes  3 to 5 months each, depending on the amount of renovation being done.

What about the other rooms in the house? The ones that are not on the TV show. Are they also renovated?

Answer:

It is up to the homeowners whether they want additional work or not. Many times we finish out the other rooms or showers after the show airs and the filming is complete.

Do you get paid extra for being on the show?

Answer:

No. But the benefits are amazing.

Do you mind being approached by fans?

Answer:

No, it is joyful to put smiles on people’s faces and I enjoy meeting new people.

Where do you live?

Answer:

I live way out in the country near a town close to Laurel. It keeps me grounded and happy.

What does your family think about you being a celebrity?

Answer:

They know I am shy and tease me a lot about it.  I love them.

About Those Rumors …

I heard Dave likes camping. Is that true?

Answer:

First of all, he goes by David. He does not use the name Dave. According to his wife, his idea of camping is a Hilton. He’s not the least bit interested in camping.

I read somewhere that David was born in Canada and is a Canadian citizen. Is that true?

Answer:

No, David was born in Mississippi and has lived there all his life. He is a U.S. Citizen.

I saw some images of David putting down a tile floor and he didn’t have facial hair. Was that him?

Answer:

No, there are images online of a guy putting down tile flooring that say it’s David the Tile Guy on Hometown. But those images are not of David.

I read that David is a licensed contractor and works with Calgary-based architects, designers, and contractors. Is that true?

Answer:

Yes and No. David is a licensed contractor. When he’s not filming on Home Town working with Erin and Ben, he subcontract work through Alexanders in Bay Springs. HGTV is based in Calgary. But most of the designers, architects, and contractors live and work around Laurel and Hattisburg, Mississippi.

Rumor has it that David started working in construction as as soon as he got his high school diploma. Is that true?

Answer:

No, David actually dropped out of school in the 10th grade and began working in flooring.

I read somewhere that David first worked as an apprentice and eventually joined the Tile Settler’s Union. Is that true?

Answer:

Yes and No, David was an apprentice. But he has never been part of a union.
